PEEK profile rod, also known as polyetheretherketone rod, is a semi-finished profile made by extruding PEEK raw materials. The following will introduce its characteristics, applications, main models, and other dimensions:
feature
High temperature resistance: The glass transition temperature can reach up to 151 ℃, the melting point is 348 ℃, and after being filled with GF or CF, the hot deformation temperature can reach 326 ℃ or above. The long-term use temperature recognized by UL in the United States is 260 ℃.
Excellent mechanical performance: It is a material that combines toughness and rigidity among all resins, with strength and fatigue resistance even better than some metal and alloy materials. Its excellent fatigue resistance to alternating stress is outstanding among all plastics.
Flame retardancy and low smoke emission: It has flame retardant properties without the need to add other flame retardant components. A sample with a thickness of 1.45mm can meet the UL-94 V0 standard, and the smoke emission is significantly lower than other types of resins.
Chemical resistance: In addition to being corroded by strong oxidizing acids such as concentrated sulfuric acid at high concentrations, it has chemical resistance similar to PTFE resin and can fully retain its mechanical properties in various chemical reagents, making it an excellent corrosion-resistant material.
Hydrolysis resistance: It can maintain good mechanical properties even after long-term immersion in high-temperature steam and hot water, making it the most hydrolysis resistant resin among all types.
Dimensional stability: It has extremely low water absorption and linear thermal expansion coefficient, and its products have excellent dimensional stability in various application environments.
Excellent electrical and insulation performance: It still has excellent insulation and stable electrical performance in environments such as high temperature, high voltage, high speed, and high humidity.
Strong radiation and weather resistance: It has excellent resistance to various types of radiation, can withstand high doses of alpha, gamma and other radiation while maintaining its various characteristics, and can be applied to various harsh environments.
High purity, low volatility, and non toxicity: PEEK rod resin itself is non-toxic, with a very stable molecular structure that is not prone to volatile compounds. It also has radiation resistance. The purified high-purity resin is an excellent biomedical material.
Application field
In the medical field, due to its good biocompatibility, resistance to high temperature disinfection, and long-term stability in the human body, it is often used to manufacture spinal implants, craniofacial surgical implants, joint replacement prostheses, etc., such as skull repair plates, artificial joints, dental implants, etc.
Automotive industry: PEEK is resistant to high temperatures, wear, and chemical corrosion, and can be used to manufacture sealing rings, bearing retainers, turbocharger components, and parts in automotive brake systems for internal combustion engines.
In the field of new energy, PEEK material is used inside electric vehicle battery packs to manufacture components such as battery pack casings, brackets, separators, and end plates in cooling systems; PEEK can be used as insulation separators, brackets, connectors, and other components in power storage systems such as capacitors and lithium-ion battery energy storage devices.
In the field of robotics, it has high mechanical strength, wear resistance, self-lubricating properties, and good resistance to high and low temperatures. It is often used to manufacture servo motor bushings, joint bearings, sliding parts, etc. for robots, as well as structural components for lightweight and sturdy robot arms and end effectors.
In the field of aerospace, it can meet the high-performance requirements of materials for aerospace components, such as manufacturing aircraft structural components, engine components, and casings for aviation electronic equipment, which can reduce the weight of aircraft while ensuring structural strength and reliability.
Main models and features
PEEK-1000 (brownish gray): Made from pure polyetheretherketone resin as raw material, it has good toughness and impact resistance among all PEEK grades. Convenient disinfection methods can be used for disinfection, and the raw materials used to manufacture this model comply with the EU and US FDA regulations on food stress, making it suitable for medical, pharmaceutical, and food processing industries.
PEEK-HPV (black): The result of adding PTFE, graphite, and carbon fiber makes it a bearing grade plastic. Its superior friction performance makes it an ideal material for friction applications at this level.
PEEK-GF30 (brownish gray): Reinforced plastic filled with 30% glass fiber, which has better rigidity and creep resistance than PEEK-1000, as well as better dimensional stability. It is ideal for manufacturing structural parts, but if used as a sliding component, its adaptability should be carefully inspected because glass fiber may scratch the mating surface.
PEEK-CA30 (black): Filled with 30% carbon fiber reinforcement, it has better mechanical properties and wear resistance than PEEK-GF30. Moreover, the plastic reinforced with carbon fiber has 3.5 times the thermal conductivity of unenhanced PEEK plastic, which can dissipate heat from the bearing surface faster.
Processing methods: Injection molding, extrusion molding, compression molding, and melt spinning can be used, as well as post-processing such as turning, milling, drilling, tapping, bonding, and ultrasonic welding.
