What is the high temperature resistance of PEEK material?

  • Release time: 2025-08-15

PEEK (polyetheretherketone), as a high-performance special engineering plastic, exhibits the following high temperature resistance performance:
1、 Basic temperature resistance characteristics
Long term use temperature
High crystalline PEEK can work stably in an environment of 260 ℃, with a short-term tolerance peak of 300 ℃
Low crystalline PEEK has a temperature resistance upper limit of only 160 ℃, and exceeding 150 ℃ will cause changes in crystallinity and deformation
Key temperature parameters
Melting point: 334-343 ℃ (affected by material purity)
Glass transition temperature: 143 ℃ (turning point of mechanical properties)
2、 Enhanced performance
Fiber reinforced model:
After adding 30% glass fiber/carbon fiber, the thermal deformation temperature is increased to 316 ℃, and the long-term use temperature can reach 300 ℃
Mechanical performance retention:
It can still maintain a bending strength of 12-13 MPa at a high temperature of 250 ℃, and a bending strength of 33 MPa at 200 ℃
3、 Application Comparison
Type: Temperature resistance range, typical application scenarios
High crystalline PEEK 260 ℃ (long-term) aviation engine components, medical implants
Low crystalline PEEK ≤ 160 ℃ Low temperature electronic packaging, ordinary industrial parts
Under special operating conditions (such as automotive thermal management systems), PEEK can maintain stability over a wide temperature range of -40 ℃ to 260 ℃
